The Brush Tool and Picking Colours

I don’t think a day goes by when I don’t use Photoshop’s Brush Tool. It’s another essential tool that needs to be mastered.

I guess I use it mainly when working with layer masks, especially for dodging & burning, but not exclusively. Taking control of this tool will add yet another important skill to your arsenal.

In this 8 minute tutorial we will not only look at the brush tool and how it works, but also how you pick the colours you need to work with it.

Using a Pen & Tablet

It’s a tool that’s much easier to be precise with, when you use it with a Wacom pen and tablet.

A mouse was never meant to be used with the accuracy that we sometimes need in Photoshop and if you have the opportunity to buy a pen & tablet, you will never regret it.

I sometmes hear from students that they find them difficult to use. I’ve been using them for so many years now, that I can’t remember whether I ever found them difficult. However, new skills often take an element of getting used to and frequently require perseverance.

For me it was definitely be worth the effort (and the investment). It’s enabled my work to be more accurate, more expressive, more intuitive… and I can absolutely work quicker than back in the days when I used a mouse.
